Req Number 134996Job DescriptionPerforms a variety of technical procedures that require the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves for diagnosis of disease.Job Responsibility
Prepares patient for examination.
Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patient of anxiety.
Ensures patient is screened according to protocol, and assures consent for the procedure has been obtained, when necessary.
Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
Sets-up equipment to administer the proper procedure in timely fashion.
Performs ultrasound procedures.
Recognizes significance of all structures that are visualized on the oscilloscope and differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes in timely manner;
Ensures proper views and images have been obtained and proper techniques have been employed; determines need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions.
Collects all pertinent data and calculations for physician interpretation
Acknowledges and reviews images in computer system.
Ensures accuracy of all patient data. Processes imaging and prints CDs, as required.
Gathers previous related patient reports, as required.
Performs minor repairs and adjusts equipment, as required.
Adheres to Infection Control guidelines in the performance of duties. Maintains cleanliness of work area, equipment and accessories.
Performs related duties as requires
Job Qualification
Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program, required.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required within one (1) year of employment, required.
Previous ultrasound technologist experience, preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively, required.
