Job Title: General Manager

Location: Garden Social Beer Garden and Kitchen

Address: 1964 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow NY

Position Type: Full-Time (50 hours per week, salaried)

Job Description:

The General Manager (GM) of Garden Social Beer Garden and Kitchen is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's operations, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, and driving profitability. The GM will lead a dynamic team, manage financial performance, and cultivate a positive work environment while maintaining the integrity and vision of Garden Social.

Key Responsibilities:

1. PNL Management

- Manage profit and loss statements, providing monthly inventory and management for Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH).

- Prepare weekly FOH and BOH Cost of Labor reports.

- Work to ideate and present cost savings and revenue growth opportunities

2. Lead Menu Ideation, Creation, and Execution

- Collaborate with the ownership team and culinary staff on menu development, including layout, additions, subtractions, and pricing.

- Ensure timely delivery and implementation of menus.

3. Opening & Closing Responsibilities

- Supervise and ensure employee tasks are completed satisfactorily before tips are distributed.

- Close out POS systems accurately and manage tip sheets.

- Maintain a consistent indoor/outdoor temperature and secure the venue at night.

- Communicate effectively with BOH regarding customer feedback and operational pacing.

- Ensure the floor plan is reset and tables are organized nightly.

- Oversee the acceptance of incoming deliveries and manage kitchen invoices.

- Enforce safety protocols for staff and patrons.

- Ensure outdoor spaces are properly prepared for customer safety.

4. Employee Training

- Conduct daily shift meetings and biannual company-wide staff meetings.

- Implement upselling training, including role-play and contests.

- Ensure staff are knowledgeable about menu items and best practices.

- Manage employee scheduling, breaks, and adherence to policies.

5. Employee Scheduling and Labor Cost Management

- Optimize labor efficiency and send schedules in a timely manner.

- Adjust staffing based on seasonal trends and business needs.

- Maintain labor costs at an average of 29% weekly.

6. Employee Hiring and Firing

- Recruit and hire qualified candidates, enhancing the talent pool.

- Manage training schedules for new hires and oversee their onboarding process.

- Maintain organized employee files and documentation.

- Implement a structured reprimanding process for underperforming employees.

7. Facility Cleanliness

- Ensure all pre- and post-shift cleaning responsibilities are met.

- Oversee the cleanliness of the bar, bathrooms, and dining areas.

- Manage outdoor cleanliness and organization.

8. Event Calendar Management

- Develop and manage the yearly event calendar for marketing and staffing.

- Collaborate with third parties for promotional materials and marketing.

- Brainstorm new events to enhance revenue generation.

- Plan and coordinate special events

9. Liquor/Beer and Sundry Purchasing

- Drive sales of beer and liquor, managing the program effectively.

- Adjust purchasing based on market trends and seasonality.

- Ensure staff are trained on cocktail recipes and customer education.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a General Manager or similar managerial roles in the restaurant industry.

- Strong understanding of PNL management, labor cost control, and inventory management.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

- Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including menu development and event planning.
