Senior Lecturer Faculty Position - Biomedical Engineering The Nancy E. & Peter C. Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University invites applications for a distinguished Senior Lecturer faculty position. We are seeking an exceptional individual with extensive expertise in biomedical engineering gained from industry or equivalent non-academic sectors. Candidates at all levels of experience and expertise will be considered including Professor of Practice or Lecturer.Successful candidates will possess a proven track record of excellence in senior technical, research, or management roles, coupled with significant leadership experience across various contexts. This may include influential roles within professional associations, trade organizations, manufacturing, or standards-setting bodies. We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated to enhance the educational experience of both students and faculty at Cornell, bringing with them a deep understanding of effective practices beyond academia.The chosen candidate will join the BME Master of Engineering team, sharing in our mission to empower engineers, scientists, and healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to accelerate productivity, innovation, and discovery within the healthcare field. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing a cutting-edge professional degree program. Their responsibilities will encompass imparting business and professional acumen, delivering graduate-level STEM knowledge, and providing both theoretical and practical experiences related to the entire product life cycle of medical technologies.The selected candidate will have a diverse range of responsibilities, including: Facilitating Experiential Learning: A primary responsibility is to provide hands-on experiential learning opportunities for students including advising and overseeing MEng team design projects, conceptualizing and implementing engineering design frameworks and processes, conducting engineering skills workshops, and establishing standard operating procedures for project solicitation, team selection, and team dynamics. Additionally, the role significantly contributes to the efficient operation of the design studio, design laboratory, and fabrication spaces. Teaching and Curriculum Development: The position also involves teaching foundational courses for the Master of Engineering degree including both existing courses that directly support the program and new courses created to address evolving educational needs. These courses may include Innovative Design of Medical Technologies (BME 5500), Regulatory Affairs - Strategy (BME 5510), Professional Development Seminar (BME 5010), Clinical Preceptorship (BME 5100), Medical Technology Engineering Process, Quality Management in Health Tech, Medical Tech Test and Measurement, and Model-Based Design in Health Tech. Program Administration and Outreach: In addition to teaching and mentoring students, the role will handle administrative and logistical aspects of the program including actively participating in outreach initiatives, contributing to recruiting efforts, assisting with admissions processes, fostering industry engagement and project showcases, coordinating career treks, and supporting conference-related activities.This multifaceted position offers a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact in both the educational experience of students and the overall success of the Master of Engineering program, contributing to its growth and continued excellence.Interested applicants should submit their CV, a cover letter outlining their experience, interest, and vision for the position, a teaching statement, and complete contact information for three references.
