Job Description:
Working as a team with the Executive Director, the Senior Operations Manager (SOM) is responsible for the daily management of all Dharmakaya Center for Wellbeing activities, including guest services, resident volunteer program, implementation of retreat programs, personnel management, housekeeping, general operational and administrative tasks, food service and facilities support staffing.
Job Responsibilities:
Daily manages and directs all Center activities, including guest services, resident volunteer program, implementation of retreats, personnel management, housekeeping, general operational and administrative tasks, food service and facilities support staffing.
Hosts programs, guests, and teachers as needed- weekdays and/or weekends
Executes Board of Director-approved policies and goals
Executes administrative operations and procedures, maintaining high business standards
Maintains in-depth working knowledge of Dharmakaya Center systems and processes, including safety protocols.
Provides leadership to staff and volunteers through goal setting, delegation, and communication
Trains, and manages direct reports and volunteers and works with each of them to streamline processes
Speedily resolves inquiries or sensitive situations on an individual basis through phone calls, letters, email, or personal interactions
Continuously evaluates all areas of the organization that touch the guest experience and work strategically with all department leaders to develop and improve a seamless guest experience of the highest quality
Submits all information, reports and records as requested or required by law to appropriate government officials or the Board of Directors
Ensures safety in all departments, timely upgrades, repairs, and facility improvements
Is fair and objective while performing responsibilities, avoiding any perception of bias or favoritism.
Protects confidentiality of information and privacy of guests, volunteers and teachers
Acts as the spokesperson for the Center; serves as director when the Executive Director is off campus or unavailable
Contains costs within budgetary guidelines. Orders and maintain supplies
Ensures compliance to minimum standards in accordance with all government legislation, regulations and guidelines pertinent to the Center’s role as an employer and non-profit agency
Other operational and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Appreciation of diverse spiritual and cultural traditions and respect for each person’s spiritual journey
Five or more years of management/Supervisory experience that includes balancing operational priorities with employee and volunteer engagement and morale. Previous experience working with volunteers or students in a residential setting a plus.
Adaptable and open – must be able to provide examples of managing in a change environment and overcoming obstacles
Ability to interface and engage diverse guest, employee and volunteer groups. Strong group speaking ability necessary
Exceptional planning, delegating, and task facilitation skills
Solid, hands-on, budget management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience creating a guest or customer environment with specific standards; managing guest satisfaction; hospitality experience (retreat center, hotel, or other) preferred
Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred or equivalent business and/or non-profit experience
