The Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County Communications & Outreach Coordinator is a member of the development team responsible for providing a unified organizational voice, quality publications and related PR/marketing materials for the Association’s programs and development/fundraising efforts. This position implements integrated campaigns for programs and the overall Association. The Communications & Outreach Coordinator may provide input to planning and strategic communications, marketing efforts and content development. Provides graphics support services including design and layout work of all types of print media. This position acts as graphic and web designer with room to explore multimedia projects including video, podcasting, and interactive media to meet the Association’s needs. This position involves diversified duties requiring knowledge of content development, marketing, public relations, photography and database software. The Communications & Outreach Coordinator acts as liaison to all media contacts and sends press releases. Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in Spanish highly preferred.

Required Qualifications:
Associate's Degree or Equivalent Education. GED/High School Diploma plus 1 year transferrable program/functional experience may substitute for educational component.
Four years of experience in marketing, public relations or similar fields.
Demonstrated proficiency with multiple windows-based software and hardware technologies including Microsoft products such as, but not limited to, Outlook, Access, Word, Excel.
Experience using social media in a professional setting for PR and marketing purposes.
Experience using graphic design software and creating compelling content
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual channels using traditional educational tools, as well as electronic technology (e.g. video, audio, web, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to build trust with diverse audiences and vulnerable communities
Enjoys connecting with others, and has strong relational skills and customer service orientation
Ability to work independently, organize workload, handle administrative detail, work under pressure and establish priorities according to Association requirements.
Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude and appearance. Maintain a positive public image of CCE when dealing with the media, public, clients, staff, volunteers and committee members.
Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
Ability to transport supplies and equipment
Ability to generate creative and innovative approaches to marketing a community-based not-for-profit organization’s educational image and services
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in Spanish.
Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and other graphic design software
Demonstrated marketing and design abilities for effective branding and communications
Ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement and evaluate informal and formal marketing and public relations programs addressing diverse audiences.
In-depth knowledge of marketing and media methods.
Demonstrated ability to create and maintain complex and unique databases of information.
This is a full time, 40 hours per week, benefits eligible, non-exempt position. Compensation paid at the rate of $26.44 per hour. Excellent benefits, based on eligibility.
