Wonder Dog Rescue is hiring a full time kennel attendant at our Hudson, NY location. We are a 20 year old non-profit dog rescue which was founded in San Francisco, CA. We moved our adoption operations to Hudson, NY in June, 2023, and currently rescue dogs and puppies from euthanasia lists in California shelters. These dogs are transported by air or ground to our facility. They need some time to adjust, but bounce back to being wonderful critters. Our job is to provide the environment for them to flourish and find new loving homes! We invite you to be part of this amazing journey.

Job details:

Cleanliness: Maintaining the cleanliness, safety and hygiene of the kennels, transport equipment and the work environment. Following all manual protocols regarding dog handling, socializing, and assisting with feeding, medications and wound care. There's a fair amount of poop pickup! Ensuring that glass, woodwork and all other surfaces are clean. Cleaning the outdoor areas as well. You will be training and working with our kennel manager

Socializing: Getting to know the dogs, giving them affection and receiving advice from Kennel Manager and ED on how to work with specific behaviors, such as timidity, rowdiness, barking, etc. You must be able to be patient with the dogs and have a genuine interest in learning positive reinforcement practices.

Be flexible for times when schedule changes come up. We all work together to accommodate one another's need for time off.

Use of the WDR van or your vehicle to occasionally transport dogs to vet appointments, pick up supplies, etc. If driving our van you will need to provide us with a DMV printout. if driving your vehicle we will reimburse your mileage.

Previous animal shelter or pet care experience is a plus, but not required.

Represent the rescue and kennel professionally to the public seeking information on boarding or adoption. Handling boarding clients professionally at all times, especially during pickup and drop off.
