East Amherst , NY 14051-5000 Certified - Teaching - Special Education Teacher {SPED}Job Number 3300045535 Start Date Open Date 01/30/2024 Closing Date 02/06/2024 Dates of assignment: ASAP through mid-March (6 weeks)This is a per diem substitute position.QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid NYS Teaching Certification in Special Education (K-6 preferred, 1-6 required)
Exemplary experiences working with students with special needs
Ability to differentiate instruction
Ability to scaffold instruction such that students with IEPs can reach the Common Core Standards
Experience working with specialized programs geared toward students with special needs
Willingness to work collaboratively with a co-teacher.
Experience working with students who speak English as a second language preferred.
Hardworking, team player, experience working with special education students and differing instructional formats; can-do attitude and growth mindset.
Preferably three years working with students with special needs with exemplary data-driven results
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Self-contained 15:1 classroom teacher
Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration.
Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
Maintain accurate student records.
Work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and administration.
Utilize various curriculum resources.
Utilize data driven instruction to maximize student growth.
Foster a warm and inviting classroom environment.
Use of data on a regular basis to drive instruction
Other responsibilities as assigned by Building Administration, the Coordinator for Special Education, or the Assistant Superintendent for Exceptional Education and Student Services.
