Employees receive support throughout their career with access to professional development opportunities across campus, college savings plans, access to public student loan forgiveness programs, a tuition waiver program, and much more!Job Description:We are seeking a full-time Lab Technician in the Laboratory of Dr. Florence Varodayan in the Psychology Department at Binghamton University. The Varodayan Lab is focused on understanding how alcohol and stress impact brain synapses and circuits to promote alcohol use disorder. The Laboratory Research Technician will assist in research investigating genetic and genomic factors contributing to addiction-related traits in advanced mouse populations.Responsibilities include:

Maintaining mouse colonies

Handling live mice for behavioral and physiological testing

Running behavioral experiments according to detailed specifications

Maintaining complete and accurate laboratory records

Collecting and processing tissue samples

Performing data analyses

Documenting processes and standard operating procedures

Coordinate sample testing with third parties

Maintaining lab organization and a high quality, clean and safe laboratory environment

Inventorying and ordering lab supplies

Maintaining lab equipment and coordinating with equipment suppliers for troubleshooting and repair

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biological sciences or related field.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Occasional night, weekend or holiday work will be required.

Preference given to candidates with technician and mouse-handling experience.
