A Saratoga Springs, New York law firm is seeking a skilled Legal Assistant who has demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment. We are looking for candidates who can work both collaboratively and independently, and who have the ability to multitask.

The Legal Assistant is responsible for assisting attorneys with clerical and administrative tasks such as drafting correspondence and legal documents, maintaining client files, communication with clients, courts, and other attorneys, and scheduling appointments.

Education, Experience & Skills

Experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or other administrative professional in a law firm or legal services agency.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel, Adobe, and office equipment such as scanners, printers, copiers, and fax machines.

Demonstrated experience working with confidential documents.

A paralegal or legal assistant degree or certificate is preferred.

Experience working in a family law firm or family legal services agency.

Experience working with legal case management systems preferred.

Knowledge of New York State e-filing systems preferred.

Notary Public license preferred.

Responsibilities & Duties

Maintain contact with and send legal documents to clients, opposing counsel, opposing parties, the Courts, and/or attorneys or the child.

Draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, opposing parties, the Courts, and/or attorneys.

Prepare and organize legal documents.

E-file legal documents on behalf of attorneys.

Input billing information into legal case management system.

Assist attorneys with scheduling appointments with clients, attorneys, and other parties.

Copy, print, scan, and fax documents to various parties.

Proofread documents and correspondence.

Meet with clients to sign legal documents.

Assist with answering phones, processing client payments, sorting mail, legal case management system data entry, and other tasks as needed.
