Description LOCATED IN ALBANY, NYOur client, a Government Agency, is seeking multiple legal assistants on a 2-year contract basis. The role involves researching and responding to Freedom of Information (FOIL) requests. The candidate will be an integral part of the team, working closely with various departments and liaising with courts, the public, and other local agencies.Responsibilities: Review, research, and respond to Freedom of Information (FOIL) requests Develop and maintain knowledge of specific laws and agency policies relevant to record requests and release Handle all aspects of the FOIL request process from receipt to final agency response Collaborate with various departments to identify and retrieve applicable records in response to FOIL requests Use internal agency systems to identify and retrieve relevant records Act as the main point of contact with courts, the public, and other state, county, and local agencies to obtain necessary information relative to FOIL requests Interact with agency Counsel, the Attorney General’s Office, and County District Attorneys as required Prepare correspondence and documentation in accordance with agency policy and applicable statutes.Requirements
