What You Will DoThe Detonator Production Division (DP-DO) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated First Line Manager (FLM) to support important national security missions in the Manufacturing Operations group (DP-3). The Manufacturing Manager 3, FLM will report to the Group Leader and will have the responsibility, authority, and accountability to execute work that supports programmatic milestones and deliverables while setting the standards for professional behavior and operational effectiveness for the team. The FLM will provide management and leadership by leading day to day operations for a team of approximately 20-25 talented Technicians and Shop Floor Control Specialists executing manufacturing operations to produce WR (War Reserve) detonators and cables.The DP Division is the premier Production Agency (PA) assigned to produce War Reserve (WR) detonators for our nation's nuclear stockpile security mission. The Division is part of LANL's Weapons Production Directorate. DP is comprised of a team of motivated, highly skilled technical and operational support staff working in an integrated format. The organization is centered on high-rigor manufacturing operations to produce precise, safe, and reliable WR products. DP partners closely with customers and stakeholders (such as the National Nuclear Security Administration [NNSA]), design agencies (LANL, Sandia National Lab [SNL], and Lawrence Livermore National Lab [LLNL]), and LANL program management organizations to deliver on challenging national security objectives. DP upholds vigorous teamwork, personal integrity, respect in the workplace, and continuous improvement in operations, technical excellence, safety, and security.The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and knowledge by providing effective personnel management/leadership while leading high fidelity, high-consequence detonator production operations. Customer Focus: Demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing effective working relationships with internal and external customers.Education/Experience : Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.Desired Qualifications:Material Handling: Experience as an HE Manager, High Explosive (HE) Handler and/or familiarity with DOE standards for High Explosives safety (DOE-STD-1212).Nature of Work: Demonstrated experience in a nuclear weapon complex component manufacturing environment for development, qualification, and WR (War Reserve) products. Familiarity and/or experience with DOE National Security Enterprise sites and business practices. Familiarity with DOE classification directives and management of security assets.
