Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, process improvement, software development, data science, and machine learning to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our IC, DoD, and civilian customers.

The Data-centric Platforms and Architectures Department seeks a creative and enthusiastic cloud-native software developer to join a diverse team of engineers, data engineers, and programmers with a passion for researching, prototyping, understanding, and building data platforms for the space enterprise. Join our team to conduct cutting-edge cloud-native/data engineering and accomplish innovative work on modern data platforms with the ability to scale intelligently!

This role is hybrid, and can work partially remotely, with some onsite presence in El Segundo, CA or Albuquerque, NM.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Working closely with National Security Space, United States Space Force, and other Department of Defense customers
  • Provide in-depth enterprise architecture/cloud modernization expertise to support the proof-of-concept work, and partner directly with customers to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Cloud solutions
  • Guide customers through assessments of their existing legacy application environments, provide recommendations on a prioritization roadmap for application modernization and identify applications for migration to cloud computing models
  • Build modern data platforms and architectures for various data domains. We use the development of these types of data platforms, and architectures to increase velocity and innovation for Aerospace and our customers

This position can be filled as a Software/Data Engineer or Sr. Software/Data Engineer.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Sr. Software/Data Engineer - Engineering Specialist:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field(s)
  • Typically, 8 or more years of experience in relevant fields in industry
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Python and/or Java
  • Experience with data architectures and platforms
  • Experience with and understanding of machine learning, and statistics
  • Experience in data visualization technologies and interactive dashboards
  • Technical leadership or responsibility in one or more software development or computer engineering projects
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and proactively seek guidance as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to cooperate and lead teams
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

Minimum Requirements for Sr. Software/Data Engineer - Sr. Engineering Specialist
  • All of the above requirements for Software/Data Engineer - Eng. Specialist
  • Typically, 12 or more years of experience in relevant fields in industry

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Advanced [Masters, PhD] degree from an accredited program in computer science or other applicable STEM concentration
  • Experience with Systems Engineering data elements relating to requirements, risk, schedule, integration, etc.
  • Cloud application architectures
  • Knowledge of data virtualization and data access
