Summary:
The Business Lending Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and growing a portfolio of business lending clients. This role involves analyzing credit data, structuring loans, and delivering tailored financial solutions to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses. The ideal candidate is client-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in commercial lending practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Originate, evaluate, and process business loan applications, including lines of credit, term loans, SBA loans, and commercial real estate financing.
Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and cash flow projections to assess borrower risk.
Structure loan proposals and make recommendations based on client needs and risk tolerance.
Maintain a strong understanding of credit policy, regulatory compliance, and lending procedures.
Work collaboratively with underwriting, credit, and compliance teams to ensure smooth processing.
Build and maintain relationships with new and existing business clients to drive loan growth.
Participate in business development activities, including networking, referrals, and community events.
Monitor loan performance and proactively manage delinquencies or risk indicators.
Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate in accordance with internal policies and external regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or related field; or equivalent experience
2–5 years of experience in commercial or business lending, credit analysis, or banking
Knowledge of lending regulations (e.g., FDIC, SBA, fair lending) and credit practices
Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency with lending software and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with SBA loan programs (7(a), 504)
Formal credit training or certification
Bilingual skills, depending on market
