Job Title: Draftsperson – Architectural Millwork
Location: Newton, NJ
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Compensation: Based on experience
We are a high-end commercial millwork company in Sussex County serving the NY/NJ region, specializing in custom architectural woodwork for office interiors, multifamily developments, hospitality, and more. We're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsperson to join our team and help bring precision and clarity to our fabrication process.
Position Summary:
The Draftsperson will be responsible for producing detailed shop drawings for custom millwork fabrication based on architectural plans and specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD skills and a solid understanding of construction drawings, materials, and millwork standards.
Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare detailed shop drawings and submittals for approval using AutoCAD
-Interpret architectural and interior design drawings and convert them into production-ready details
-Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabricators to ensure feasibility and accuracy
-Revise drawings based on redlines or design changes
-Communicate with clients, contractors, and internal departments as needed
-Ensure all drawings meet project timelines and quality standards
Qualifications:
-Proficiency in AutoCAD is required
-Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and construction documents
-Experience with custom architectural millwork or cabinetry drafting preferred
-Strong attention to detail and understanding of construction/millwork terminology
-Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
-Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred but Not Required:
-Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Inventor, Revit)
-Knowledge of AWI standards
-Hands-on shop or fabrication experience
