SUMMARY:

This position supports the Senior Director, System Safety Data Analysis & Reporting, managing daily data input and ensuring compliance in regulatory reporting and in-house NJ TRANSIT (NJT) safety reporting for Bus and Light Rail Operations.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Manages the input and data accuracy for Bus collisions and customer injuries as they relate to National Transit Database (NTD) and internal NJT Bus Reporting in the ASM electronic reporting system.

Manages the input and data accuracy of all Workers’ Comp incidents as they relate to the OSHA Log including confirming medical treatment, lost time days and return to work.

Manages the input and data accuracy for Light Rail equipment incidents, violations and collisions by working with Data Specialists and the ASM Light Rail Safety Oversight Group.

Manage all Bus incident reporting in-house and to outside agencies such as Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and OSHA. Review software applications for better, more streamlined reporting.

Manages the development of the standardization of data transfer with Bus and Light Rail Operations, Risk Management/Workers’ Compensation, Medical Services, NJT Police and other departments as required.

Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in NTD and OSHA reporting requirements.

Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in classifying bus collision and customer injury incidents.

Manages the development, implementation & analyzing of Bus Operations Monthly Safety Overview Report process.

Serves as additional data input specialist in the absence of four qualified specialists.

Provides backup support to Safety Data Specialist team members.

Completes any other projects as assigned by the Sr. Director, System Safety Data Analysis & Reporting.

This position supervises Senior Safety Data Specialists (3) and Safety Data Specialist (1)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s Degree in Data/Network Management, Occupational Safety, Business Administration, or related area, or equivalent and six (6) years of progressive experience coordinating and managing projects, data, or software systems.

One year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.

OSHA 30 Hour Standards in General Industry Training - Desirable

Transit Bus System Safety, and SMS Principles for Transit Certification - Desirable

Transit Safety and Security Program Certificate (TSSP - Transit Bus Program) – Desirable

World Safety Organization (WSO), Certified Safety Manager (WSO-CSM) –Desirable

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Skilled use of electronic reporting systems and data software programs is required.

Knowledge of OSHA Recordkeeping, NTD Reporting, and Bus Collision categorization is highly desired.

Ability to multi-task, to work with various NJ TRANSIT departments, and to follow up with and hold direct reports accountable is required.

Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, follow-up and leadership skills required.

Working knowledge of software programs, such as Excel and Word, is required.
