ESL Teaching Position (part-time)
Second Start Adult Education is seeking an English for speakers of other languages (ESL) teacher for an immediate opening. Second Start Adult Education is in need of an ESL daytime teacher to work with employees at a manufacturing plant twice a week. There is some flexibility to this schedule.
Qualifications include experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages and/or linguistics. Pay is hourly. Additional teaching section may become available.
Responsibilities include:
Instruction
The teacher will plan and implement lessons based on students’ English speaking, listening, reading, and writing levels and individual goals. Lessons should also include contextualized instruction, employability skills and be aligned to the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS).
The teacher will work with the HR director and manufacturing trainer to ensure key components are included in the curriculum.
The teacher may invite the program counselor to visit class to share community information and participate in activities as appropriate.
The teacher will make referrals to the counselor based on student needs.
Record Keeping
The teacher will keep daily, accurate student attendance records and will notify the Second Start counselor of any attendance concerns.
The teacher will support the counselor’s efforts for skills testing when necessary.
Staff Meetings
The teacher is expected to attend monthly staff meetings, and to participate as a member of the team of adult education educators to help ensure a cohesive program for all participants.
