Columbia University, School of Professional Studies (SPS) seeks candidates to serve as a part-time Lecturer to teach a graduate level course in Storytelling with Data. Data does not have meaning without context and interpretation. This course teaches students how to effectively present data analytics by developing and delivering a compelling narrative that has been tailored a with a specific audience in mind. Throughout the course, students create and receive feedback on data storytelling while sharpening their ability to communicate complex analytics to technical and nontechnical audiences with clarity, precision, and influence.ResponsibilitiesLead class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussion. Attend all class sessions (classes generally meet once per week for up to 2 hours).Prepare instructional materials, including the oversight of the course Canvas webpage (learning management system), weekly lecture presentations, supplementary class readings, etc.Monitor and address student concerns and inquiries.Evaluate, grade student work and assessments.Conduct office hours.
