Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) owns Pumpkin Hollow - the only large-scale, fully-permitted copper project in North America. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold and silver. Initial production is planned by end of 2019. With global mine supply declining and demand increasing, this is the right project at the right time.Purpose of PositionThe Environmental Specialist position is responsible for the day to day compliance activities in in support of the environmental management system. The person will be responsible for all aspects of day to day environmental compliance, recordkeeping and environmental projects. This person will be a primary point of contact with onsite contractors and vendors. This position will interface with project managers, project teams, mine and mill operations leads, warehouse management and administrative groups, consultants, regulatory personnel, etc.Responsibilities and Duties
Manage day to day environmental compliance programs
Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory agencies, auditors and others
Interact with regulatory agencies, auditors and other third parties during multi-media inspections and information requests
Communicate compliance requirements and proper procedures to NCI personnel, vendors and contractors
Work with Environmental Manager on permitting requirements and strategies
Maintain all records related to environmental management as appropriate
Plan and schedule required monitoring and sampling
Provide direction and mentoring support to the Environmental Technician
Work with cross-functional teams to maintain environmental management and monitoring programs
Manage day to day compliance in the following permitting areas:
Water Pollution Control
Air Pollution Control
Reclamation and Bonding
Tailings and Mine Rock
Waste Management
Hazardous Materials
Drinking Water
Exploration Permits on Federal Lands
Cultural and Historic Resources
Health and Safety
Ensure that all safety procedures and regulatory guidelines are followed
Support the site safety culture through leadership and regularly engaging with and holding the workforce accountable for safe work practices
Participate in health and safety meetings and risk reviews as required
Knowledge/Education
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Mining Engineering, Biology, or other applicable science degree required
3-5 years environmental related experience preferred with experience in an active mining setting involving surface and/or underground operations
Understanding of regulatory programs/permitting within Nevada at both the State (NDEP) and federal (BLM) preferred
Previous experience interacting with regulatory agencies preferred
Ability to manage environmental programs including budgeting required
Demonstrated leadership qualities around Health and Safety required
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) required
Ability to gather, develop and analyze data.
Strong safety behaviors including familiarity with and adherence to all U.S. Mining Regulatory agencies including MSHA standards required

Work Schedule, Personal Protective/Other EquipmentThe incumbent is expected to work a 40 hour/week schedule, primarily from Monday through Friday. Personal Protective Equipment required for the field work portion of this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
