Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. DWTC is a Level 6, 44-bed child and adolescent psychiatric hospital serving severely emotionally disturbed youth ages 6 through 17. DWTC is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and licensed by the Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance. The MHT 4 supplements the work of mental health professionals, health specialists and nursing staff by providing and overseeing the provision of direct patient care at DWTC. Incumbents to this position are highly trained in the profession of direct patient care in a psychiatric setting. The incumbent will make decisions and judgements applicable to the provision of direct care. Decisions may include determining the off-unit activities in which the patient may participate and providing summations of patient care to the attending physicians; and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and make recommendations on patients' mental health care. The MHT 4 will assist in the training of new and existing staff, supervision of duties, and evaluation of subordinate MHT positions with regard to performance duties. The incumbent provides input to the performance appraisals for all subordinate MHT positions. The incumbent will also assist in assigning work, monitoring the completion of assigned duties, and work reviews, and may also assist in transport as it relates to patients' therapeutic activities.
