The incumbent functions as a construction project manager and is responsible for maintaining and managing the construction field office and construction field laboratory, including facilities testing, and supervision of testing and inspecting crew members. Manages and delivers major, complex, and regionally significant projects using traditional (Design-Bid-Build) and innovative (Design-Build, Design-Build-Finance, Construction Manager at Risk) project delivery methods; performs professional engineering work in coordinating, planning, directing, and managing activities as a Highway Project Manager for the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). The incumbent functions as a personnel manager who trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of subordinate supervisors. Highway Project Managers may work in an office setting or outside in urban environments and rural environments in a wide range of temperatures and climates. Highway Project Managers may work alternative shifts outside of traditional business hours (overtime, nights, weekend, holidays, and long-term travel on per diem) and may need to report to work will little to no notice.
