Posted 11/12/2024 Close Date: 11/19/2024 Recruiter: NORA JUAREZ-SERRANO Phone: (702)486-8612 Email: [email protected] Applications accepted for another 6 Days 23 Hrs 20 Mins The PositionEmission Control Technicians perform a variety of inspection, investigation, and technical assistance activities to ensure compliance of state-licensed emission control stations and emission control inspectors with federal and State laws and regulations regarding vehicle emissions, and to assist and inform the public regarding the state's emission control program.Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.This position is located in our Sahara DMV Office within the Compliance Enforcement Division. The Incumbent will perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform at the Emissions Control Technician 2 Level. The appointee will be trained and/or required to carry out the following job duties: maintains relations and provides information to the public, licensees, and other agencies in a professional and courteous manner. Incumbents should be able to: utilize an array of emission testing/diagnostic equipment when conducting compliance tests of light and heavy-duty vehicles, and record results; maintain knowledge and expertise in gasoline and diesel automotive engine and emission system design/theory, and the cause and effect of vehicle exhaust emissions; identify vehicle engines and the required emission devices and/or systems, and determine if they are in compliance with emission laws, regulations, and policies; conduct field assignments to include compliance auditing of existing and prospective authorized emission stations, licensed emission inspectors, and approved emission testing equipment; inspect vehicles for sale on licensed sales lots for emission compliance; and ride along in a marked police unit with a uniformed officer when roadside testing over-the-road diesel trucks for emission compliance. Incumbents will also carry out administrative assignments to include: process, evaluate, report, and disseminate public complaints, assist in developing and updating procedures for tasks specific to the emission control section, compiling statistical reports, reviewing licensee application paperwork, maintaining data of licensees, maintain equipment used within the emission control section and an inventory of related supplies, conduct research, write reports of findings, carry out project assignments related to the section, prepare vehicles and documentation to implement covert audits of licensees, testify as a witness for the Division in enforcement proceedings, and assist in the testing and approval of equipment and software related to the emissions program. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees.
