POSITION:Peer Support Specialist - Hope SpringsSCHEDULE:Full-TimeLOCATION: Reno, NV 89512SALARY: $20/hr - $22.20/hrTO APPLY:Careers Page - https://www.nnhopes.org/about/careers/Please note, employers may close jobs on the website at any time.SUMMARY:The purpose of thePeer Support Specialist, Hope Springs(Hope Springs Program details: https://www.nnhopes.org/hopesprings/)is to engage, provide support to individuals in recovery and assist with retainment in services.The Peer Support Specialist supports others in recovery from a substance use or behavioral health disorder throughPeer-to-Peer Support, CommunityEngagementandTeam-based Care. The Peer Support Specialist serves as a role model, a mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals in order to engage, retain and help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery.Northern Nevada HOPES is a Federally Qualified Health Center and Patient Centered Medical Home.MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:Due to real and potential conflicts of interest that exist when HOPES Behavioral Health providers render services to their coworkers, it is HOPES policy (Policy HR0005) that HOPES employees may not access HOPES Behavioral Health Services. For the same reason, current Behavioral Health patients/clients cannot be employed by HOPES. Accordingly, you hereby acknowledge and understand that if you are receiving services from a HOPES Behavioral Health provider at the time you are offered and accept employment with HOPES, you have the option of rescinding your acceptance of employment or finding a new behavioral health provider outside of HOPES before starting employment with HOPES.Use your patient-focus, communication skills, and flexibility to assist your peers to lasting recovery. Your ability to express empathy, authenticity and ability to build trust is a must!

Must be available to work during weekends and Holidays.

Personal, lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders and treatment required.

High-school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent required.

Ability to Read, write and follow written and oral instructions required.

Ability to identify emergency situations and respond accordingly required.

Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form including documentation of interchange notes required. Utilization of a computer is required.

Must be inclusive, supportive and free of judgment.

Two-years experience in a peer support capacity preferred.

One to two years of successful recovery preferred.

Knowledge of community resources preferred.

General understanding of HIPAA and HITECH requirements and ability to maintain patient confidentiality preferred.

Knowledge of Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing preferred.

Completion of the CASAT Peer Support Specialist training, or Undergraduate Minor/Certificate Program preferred.

National Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) Certification or ICandRC Peer Recovery and Support Specialist Certification through the Nevada Certification Board preferred.

Bilingual preferred.
