Position: Medical Technologist
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Shift: 8am-5pm M-F
Job type: Full-time
Salary: $35-$55/hour, Dependent upon experience
As a Medical Technologist the incumbent will be responsible for operating automated, semi-automated and/or manual chemistry (Olympus 480) /immunochemistry(Access2) for analysis of specimens. Must demonstrate knowledge of techniques and competence in the fields of bio-diagnostics. Able to work with minimal to moderate supervision.
Job duties
Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures.
Acts as a resource for Lab Assistants.
Supports and assists Medical Technologists and Lead Medical Technologists as required
Performs proper specimen collection and labeling procedures
Maintain clean and healthy work environment
Maintain high level of customer service at client location
Must be reliable, responsible, and able to work unsupervised
Responsible for entering data of patient information
Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents or other means
Able to be patient and build rapport with patients
Find veins that are suitable for puncture and perform proper venipuncture techniques
Collect various samples including: Blood, Saliva, Urine, etc.
Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples
Label samples correctly and send or deliver them for testing
Answer patient questions and provide useful information
Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests
Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working
Scanning of laboratory document
Processing and sorting specimens
Being a reference of where insurances go, what test to order
Knowledge base of tests performed and genetic testing
Maintenance Logs/Temperature Logs
Helping with laboratory faxes
Answering phones and providing front desk customer assistance when needed
Running the autoclave/sterilization of specimens
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university and successful score
on a national examination for certification approved by the State Board; OR
Completion of three years of academic study, with a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited college or university in a curriculum involving biological or physical science and at least 12 months of training at a school of medical technology approved by a national accrediting agency and pass a national examination for certification;
OR
ASCP or equivalent certification, current State of Nevada certification as a medical Technologist , may have General Supervisor certification
Two (2) years of experience as Medical Laboratory Technician.
MLT(ASCP) or equivalent as defined by CLIA’88
General bench tech skills required to provide coverage in all modalities
