Collaborates with Transport Leadership to maintain an environment that advocates for staff and promotes individual/team engagement through clinical/administrative expertise and professional leadershipEssential Functions

Coordinates/leads CRM in the unit by ensuring that quality care is delivered in an efficient work environment to include: Managing patient flow ◦ Coordinates CRM. Balances crew resources to deliver patient care in a timely manner for ground, Rotor Wing and Fixed Wing transports. ◦ In times of high transport volume, effectively problem solves and utilizes available resources including the Communication Center specialist, the transport leadership to maximize patient throughput, while maintaining quality and safe patient care. ◦ Maintains constant CRM awareness, adjusting transport team assignments and directing workflow according to changes in patient acuities/needs and other transport activities. ◦ Utilizes clinical leadership in ensuring that CRM activities meet established unit/organizational/ practice standards of care through patient/family rounding, communication with healthcare team and in directing and/or assisting in the delivery of clinical patient care. Assists with schedule per leadership request ◦ Coordinates Transport assignments using established CRM guidelines that match individualized patient needs with staff competencies, and staff skill mix. ◦ Assigns and delegates CRM according to the knowledge and skills of the staff available. ◦ Anticipates plans and forecasts staffing needs daily, 24º out, and on a weekly basis. Resolves staffing issues as they arise and updates Clinical Manager daily. ◦ Works collaboratively with Communication Center Specialists to meet CRM staffing needs, taking accountability for impact of decision on patient care and safety. ◦ Crew Resource Management is adjusted consistently according to established CRM policies/procedures/guidelines/standards. ◦ Unresolved staffing concerns and unique CRM adjustments are appropriately communicated to the Clinical Manager & Director in a timely manner. Monitoring unit environment ◦ Ensures that staff has the supplies, equipment, information, and resources needed to provide quality patient care in a safe work environment. ◦ Assesses unit supplies and equipment needs daily. Orders items needed & communicates with Central Supply. Reports correction needs, submits Eyes on Safety variance reports as necessary and utilizes unit tracking processes for timely resolution of identified needs. Reports unresolved environmental variances to the leadership as necessary.

Collaborates to maintain an environment that advocates for staff and promotes individual/team engagement through clinical/administrative expertise and professional leadership. Role models, demonstrates, and promotes clinical leadership ◦ Serves as a clinical/systems expert with transport staff and interdisciplinary team member(s) in the assessment, development, implementation, and/or evaluation of the age-specific individualized patient/family-centered plan of care and documented actions ◦ Consistently implements the transport process in accordance with the unit scope of service, policies/procedures, and standards to oversee the care of patients while utilizing critical thinking skills. ◦ Demonstrates clinical competence in assigned area to support quality patient care. Uses discretionary judgment in assessing conflicting priorities and needs. ◦ Communicates effectively at all levels, role modeling a professional approach with all situations and individuals even when faced with disagreement or conflict. ◦ Promotes a positive work environment by building trust and strengthening relationships with staff, Communication Center, and in-patient units. Utilizes Language of Caring in daily interactions. Develops mutually supportive professional relationships with Transport staff & leadership Identify non-compliance with standards and collaborates with Clinical Managers to develop an action plan if necessary ◦ Administers policies with consistency and without regard to personal agendas or beliefs ◦ Keeps abreast of department/organization policies/regulations as well as industry knowledge through technical publications, newsletters, personal networks, and professional affiliations. ◦ Incorporates Just Culture into daily practice wile investigating shift coordination issues. Communicates and collaborates with Clinical Manger for resolution.

Assists with staffing on patient care transports to meet staffing demands, as necessary.

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or related healthcare field Preferred or

Associate's Degree Required

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a clinical nurse or Paramedic, preferably in pediatrics Required

Minimum 1 year of transport experience Required

Skills and Abilities

Must possess leadership skills in verbal/written communication and organizational management (time management, problem solving, conflict resolution, and knowledge of regulatory agency/HR standards).

Must possess influential/motivational leadership skills that drive/develops staff performance.

Ability to effectively demonstrate situational power, control, autonomy, and flexibility.

Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills.

Maintains all department specific education requirements.

Licenses and Certifications

RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current and valid Nebraska RN license/RN compact license required or current Upon Hire Required or

LP - Licensed Paramedic Current and valid Nebraska Paramedic License with National Registry License Upon Hire Required

Health ServicesBCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required and

PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days Required and

NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 180 Days Required and

ACLS within 1 Year Required and

TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course within 1 Year Required or

TPATC within 1 Year Required or

PHTLS within 1 Year Required or

other CAMTS approved trauma course within 1 Year Required

Specialty Transport Certification within 2 years of hire. Required
