5 Axis Programmer and Prototype Machinist

Specialized manufacturer seeks an experienced 5 Axis CNC Machinist to join our small business operations in Butte, Montana. Day to day activities include designing manufacturing plans, setup of machining centers, NC CAM programming with GibbsCAM or Hypermill, sourcing of tooling and material, design and manufacture of fixtures, and machining of mechanical and micro-mechanical components. The ability to communicate professionally with clients and to collaborate with other Machinists and Engineers located around the country is required. Patients, attention to detail, and a desire to constantly improve are highly valued.

Experience working under a formal Quality System such as for aerospace, medical, or nuclear component machining is required. AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, NQA-1, Etc.

US Citizenship (I9 Verification) and the ability to pass an FBI background check is required.

Responsibilities include:

Programming, set up, and operation of multi-axis CNC machine tools include 5 axis milling and turning centers.

Perform offline programming using GibbsCam, Hypermill, software packages. Applicant must have 5+ years of full time professional CAM Programming experience (not necessarily with the CAM software above).

Set up Fanuc based CNC machines efficiently be able to select and utilize optimal feeds, speeds and cutter combinations.

Understand and apply High Efficiency Machining techniques.

Use and maintain precision inspection equipment such as micrometers, indicators, electronic height gauges, optical comparators, and fixed limit gauges.

Read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning, conventional dimensioning/tolerances.

Apply knowledge of machining materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, plastics, and super alloys.

Run complex parts with close tolerances and highly cosmetic surfaces.

Exhibit a high degree of skill handling delicate parts, producing precision machined surfaces, and exercising care when cleaning, deburring, and assembling to maintain the highest quality.

Be capable of making parts from start to finish using blueprints and/or customer supplied CAD files with little supervision.

Be capable and willing to thoroughly document the manufacturing process, and to assist in developing training, and procedures.

Must have good communications skills and be willing and able to act as a company representative.

NOTES:

This is not an entry level position. CNC operators need not apply. If you have not been actively working in the industry at a high level, please do not apply. This a position with a small company, flexibility, self motivation, and creativity are required.

Job Type: Full-time only

Compensation depends on professional experience, and desired level of responsibility within the company. $35-$50/hr depending on experience. Salary positions available.

75% of Medical Insurance premiums paid by the company.

11 Paid Holidays

9-80 Work schedule provides every other Friday off.

Day shift only.
