Based in the Saint Louis, Missouri region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted short-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity where effort is rewarded. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. The majority of time spent will be dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, play an active role in compliance, and review schedules for the reporting processes.How you will make an impact
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management Requirements - Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Month end closings experience required
Deep understanding of journal entries
General ledger experience desired
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
