Site Safety Manager Job Description for Kovach

Position: Site Safety Manager

Location: De Soto, Kansas

Reports to: Director of Safety and Quality

Summary: The Site Safety Manager is responsible for managing safety and risk on a large project in De Soto, Kansas. This position plans, directs, and implements the company’s and job site safety program to foster a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. The Site Safety Manager collaborates directly with general contractors, field staff, and the Director of Safety and Quality to create a safe working environment for all contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Site Inspections: Perform site safety inspections and review inspections provided by other safety personnel.

Training and Assistance: Provide recommendations and assistance to Superintendents regarding job site hazards, employee training, safe equipment operation, and other site specific training for the project.

Safety Training: Responsible for completing equipment operator training, fall protection user, rigging, etc.

Injury, Accident, Near Miss Reporting: Complete thorough injury, incident, accident and near miss reports. Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.

Job Hazard Analysis: Create task specific job hazard analysis for all features of work on the project.

Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction safety.

Holds a certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professional. i.e. CSP, ASP, SMS, CHST, or STSC.

OSHA 500 – Trainer

Has extensive experience training employees in safety rules and regulations.

Must be knowledgeable in all safety and health regulations for Federal and State approved plans (ADOSH, CAL OSHA, FED OSHA)

Must be organized.

Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Personal Qualities: Must be a great communicator, have the ability to work in a team environment, forward thinker, strong work ethic, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and climbing on construction sites.

Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Visual and manual dexterity for operating machinery and computers.

Desk work is required.

Working in cold and hot environments.

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to outdoor conditions and construction sites.

Noise levels can be high at times due to machinery and equipment.
