We are currently hiring a Director of the STARBASE Fort Harrison program. The STARBASE Fort Harrison Director is supervised by the STARBASE Montana Program Manager/Director. RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates closely with the STARBASE Montana Director to oversee and manage all facets of the STARBASE Fort Harrison program, including planning and executing STARBASE Montana goals and objectives. SUPERVISION o In collaboration with Helena Public Schools, supervises STARBASE Fort Harrison contracted instructors and conducts/arranges staff development o In collaboration with the STARBASE Montana Director, supervises the office manager, providing feedback and technical assistance o Conducts staff meetings and coordinates schedules o Observes classrooms and instructors regularly, providing feedback and technical assistance PROGRAM MANAGEMENT o Plans, organizes, and conducts a comprehensive program, integrating a variety of resources + Includes outreach, guest speakers, field trips, community partners, summer camps, and afterschool programs. o Develops needs assessments, reporting requirements, and data measurements to determine program effectiveness o Assists the STARBASE Montana Director in the development of supporting policies, procedures, and regulations to comply with program requirements o Continuously reviews the Master Cooperative Agreement, DoD for the STARBASE program, State of Montana policies, and any guidance through the Spectrum Group and apply directives to current program operations o Manages day-to-day operations of the DoD STARBASE Fort Harrison Program academy in collaboration with staff o Conducts an annual review of the DoD STARBASE Fort Harrison Program academy processes and examines records to improve efficiency of operations o Serves on steering committees established at the national level to improve DoD STARBASE Program academy effectiveness and operations o Oversees administrative aspects of programs to meet the objectives of stakeholders o Presents information to key participant groups and stakeholders o Coordinates with host installation for program support o Works with school administrators to develop a schedule of schools serviced by the program to meet target requirement of students served during the school year o Develops and implements affective public affairs program materials and communication outreach to share messaging and intent of the program INSTRUCTION o Serves as instructor in the STARBASE classroom as needed o Assists with afterschool STEM programming and curriculum development as needed o Coordinates development of instructional materials for STEM classrooms including print-ready student materials and instructor materials o Serves as a member of the instructional team to develop, improve, and test new lesson plans in accordance with DoD STARBASE instructions o Ensures DoD STARBASE curriculum is properly utilized and taught o Coordinates STARBASE instructional program with local school district curriculum standards o Ensures that lesson plan objectives are being met in classroom instruction o Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of educational outcomes and best practices in relation to STEM curriculum o Works with staff to plan and develop curriculum implementation schedule (to be maintained by Deputy Director) FINANCES & INVENTORY o Recommend, manage, and develop budgets to submit to the National Guard Bureau (NGB) and other federal and state agencies as required o Work within the program’s funding sources to ensure compliance with regulations, legislative and rule change, and secured funds o Maintains control and inventory of equipment and supplies purchased with DoD STARBASE Fort Harrison Program funds o Review, monitor, and analyze expenditures, invoices, and expenses for the program’s budgets, maintaining expenditure controls o Prepares and quantifies changes to the budget as they arise in the budget process o Tracks contract services and expenditures o Maintains cross-functional collaboration with the Montana Department of Military Affairs finance division and Montana National Guard Federal Program Manager and Grants Officer Representative to ensure costs are allocable and allowable under the Master Cooperative Agreement as well as within the funded budget o Plan and submit all travel-related purchasing and documentation Education:A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a STEM field or education Experience:At least 5 years of experience in elementary education or program management is preferred Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted Title: Fort Harrison Director Location: Helena Requisition ID: 24140748
