The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.The Communications Coordinator supports the agency's mission and priority work of Aging and Adult Services (AASD), MN Board on Aging (MBA) and the Age-Friendly Council by providing communications to advance equity, raise public awareness, and provide critical information about programs and services for internal and external audiences. Responsibilities include:
Plan, develop, coordinate and implement communications strategy, procedures and activities for the division to ensure internal and external stakeholders are well informed
Offer consultation to subject matter experts on communications strategy, best practices and implementation
Leading work groups to advance and implement new initiatives for the division
Conduct research and develops key messages for senior leadership
Serving as AASD and MBA lead public website developer and accessibility expert advocate
Minimum Qualifications3 years professional experience planning, designing, writing, and editing print and electronic communications materials or tools. Experience must include:
Website standards and best practices, sufficient to develop and maintain websites and measure usability and accessibility
Communicate complex issues, orally and in writing, clearly and effectively with a wide variety of colleagues and audiences
Designing effective, accessible communications materials sufficient to share technical, complex information or issues to a broad audience
Plan, develop, and implement effective communication, marketing, or public relations strategies sufficient to meet agency communication needs
Bachelor’s Degree in related field may substitute for 1 year of experiencePreferred Qualifications
M ethods of effective, accessibility communications through creation of high quality, compelling graphics, and design elements
Applying plain language and accessibility standards to communication materials sufficient to ensure clear and concise messaging that can be accessed by all
Measure and evaluate communication efforts sufficient to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations
Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and/or cultures
