The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) Agency Finance & Operations Division is looking for a Grants Specialist Intermediate to join the Contracts/Grants unit. As a grant specialist intermediate, you will take on a healthy portfolio of state grants for the day-to-day operations of grant making, including, application and budget review, award preparation, payment process, grant monitoring, reporting and closeout. You will work with specific program areas to problem solve issues as they arise, give guidance on state and possibly federal grant making, and be relied on as the grant making expert.Minimum QualificationsTwo (2) years of experience managing grants, analyzing financial reports, reviewing and monitoring budgets and making recommendations on solutions to procedural and operational problems as they arise.A master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; a bachelor’s degree in public administration, Political Science, Accounting, Finance, or related degree determined by the agency may substitute for one (1) year of experience.Preferred QualificationsExperience managing grants within state government or education sectors.

Three (3) years of demonstrated experience managing complex grants using critical thinking and analytical skills to adequately monitor grants.

Active knowledge of the Office of Grants Management policy framework.

Active knowledge of the federal Uniform Grant Guidance also known as the 2 CFR 200.

Working knowledge of SWIFT.

Experience developing and presenting complex trainings.

The ability to adapt readily to change.
