Connecting. Growing together.The Associate Director, Workplace Threat Management is a key member of UnitedHealth Group's (UHG) Corporate Security team. The Corporate Security organization is responsible for the Enterprise Workplace Security Program that facilitates the protection of the company’s global workforce and physical assets through security risk management platforms. The Associate Director, Workplace Threat Management will report to the Vice President, Risk Management within Corporate Security.The Associate Director will be responsible for maturing, leading and operationalizing UHG’s workplace violence prevention, mitigation and response function – the Threat Management program – in line with key risks, industry best practices and peer standards. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing and executing the global strategy for the Threat Management program; managing high-risk, critical or complex workplace violence investigations; leading the multi-disciplinary, enterprise Threat Assessment Team (TAT)’s in responding to high-risk cases; acting as a subject matter expert to support the development of workplace violence training; facilitating compliance with workplace violence regulations; and building a high-functioning team of workplace violence investigators.Substantive experience managing end-to-end workplace violence investigations and responding to crisis situations is required. Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to deliver briefings during high-stress and crisis situations, and substantive knowledge of industry best practices in workplace violence threat management, is required. Experience managing a team/program is also required. The candidate will need to build and maintain strong internal partnerships with multiple corporate stakeholders and business segment leadership. This individual will also be responsible for engagement with relevant external partners, including vendors and government/law enforcement agencies, as needed.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain the global Threat Management strategy and governance structure for the organization

Lead the Threat Management program and team globally under the oversight of the VP, Risk Management

Develop, refine and apply Threat Management standards, SOPs, job aids, methodologies and processes across the enterprise in line with industry best practices

Lead the cross-functional enterprise Threat Assessment Team (TAT) for high-risk cases

Manage high-risk, critical and complex workplace violence cases as needed; lead and manage critical workplace violence incidents

Develop risk mitigation strategies and nuanced safety plans in response to workplace violence threats and incidents

Develop training for and train the Threat Management team and related support staff in workplace violence investigations

Manage Corporate Security’s on-call program and provide training for on-call staff

Act as a subject matter expert in supporting the development of workplace violence prevention and response training for the enterprise

Manage and facilitate initiatives related to security compliance with U.S. state workplace violence regulations, in partnership with other corporate functions

Manage Threat Management vendor relationships and ensure service levels are met

Build and maintain strong relationships with Corporate Security teams, internal partners, vendors, law enforcement, government agencies and industry bodies

Coordinate with global partners to ensure the standardization of Threat Management processes in all business locations

Maintain a strong understanding of Threat Management best practices and emerging industry trends

Other job duties as assigned

This role requires after-hours on-call availability, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed

This role requires up to 15% travel

5+ years of general security, intelligence, investigations, and/or crisis management experience in the private or public sector

2+ years of direct experience in the field of workplace violence threat and incident management

Experience directly managing teams

Direct experience in conducting end-to-end workplace violence investigations, developing nuanced risk mitigation strategies and safety plans, and responding to crisis situations

Direct experience working complex investigations with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams

Knowledge of industry best practices for workplace violence prevention, mitigation, and response, including knowledge of violence risk factors and behaviors associated with targeted violence

Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to conduct investigations, lead meetings, and provide training to internal employees and leaders

Ability to provide verbal briefings in high-stress/crisis situations, and to develop/deliver PowerPoint presentations

Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills and superior attention to detail

Ability to work independently or in a collaborative team environment

Ability to work productively in urgent and stressful situations

Flexibility and agility; ability to take direction and feedback and think creatively about solutions to complex problems

Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse identities, cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives

This role requires the highest levels of professionalism, diplomacy, confidentiality, and the ability to interact with a wide range of constituencies across UHG

Competency in the Microsoft Office suite of products

Ability to travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications and/or training in workplace violence investigations and/or behavioral threat assessment

Knowledge of best practices in workplace security training

Competency in investigative case management tools

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
