Growing together.Optum is seeking a visionary and dynamic Principal Mobile Architect to join our team in support of digital efforts within Optum Consumer Product focused on delivering solutions to Optum Patients. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the architectural landscape, focusing on the consumer digital domain, with a particular emphasis on enhancing the patient experience for mobile experiences. In this role you will help make Optum’s consumer obsessed digital vision come to life by delivering our next generation mobile app to our Optum Care patients.This role sets the application architecture, standards and practices for react-native developers in frontend and BFF development of a high-quality mobile application. With a proven track record and specific technical examples, the mobile lead architect should be able to show a record of, and invent new strategies for achieving best-in-class app performance, and an application structure that caters to rapid, federated development. This leader should be up-to-date on the latest trends, ready to collaborate and code with backend engineers, and work closely with QA engineers to develop and execute comprehensive test plans. The architect should be capable of adapting to and leading others to a federated delivery model.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:

Craft and communicate the overarching architecture vision and technical strategies, securing buy-in with leadership and engineers alike

Provide expert recommendations and technical guidance to optimize system performance, reliability, and reusability, mindful of budgetary and business constraints

Engage with multiple teams and vendors, assessing technology options, providing technical briefings, and demonstrating emerging technologies through hands on coding of Proof of Technology (PoT) solutions, shared libraries, and scaffolding/frameworks

Partner directly with business units to develop solutions and capabilities, acting as a key influencer with executives and other stakeholders to drive a reusable ecosystem of components that become part of “mash-up” experiences across LoBs

Conduct rigorous research and analysis to define current states, identify gaps, and devise solutions for complex challenges

Develop conceptual models of potential solutions, documenting them through a blend of textual descriptions and diagrams

Make strategic architecture decisions that incorporate considerations for security, performance, scalability, reliability, and usability

Architect and guide Product Engineering Teams to deliver solutions that conform to enterprise architecture standards and contribute to the progression of technical strategies

Work with delivery teams to identify and mitigate technical debt, both short-term and strategically

Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise or 5 years equivalent experience

8+ years of React-Native Development experience

8+ years of TypeScript experience

8+ years of solid testing and debugging strategies and best practices

8+ years of experience with tools and approaches for performance optimization and security

6+ years of CI/CD deployment process and rules to iOS App Store and Google Play Store

4+ years of Local storage mechanisms relevant to iOS and Android

3+ years of GraphQL Development experience

2+ years of @apollo/client state management

2+ years of React-navigation

2+ years of Event-based development and domain based modeling and design

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience developing Design Systems or Reusable/Shared UI Components, Reusable Libraries, or Software Scaffolding and Frameworks

Experience designing consumer-oriented GraphQL schema
