Position Overview: As a Master Auto Repair Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on a wide variety of vehicles. You will leverage your advanced technical expertise to handle complex repairs, work with the latest automotive technologies, and mentor junior technicians. This is a key role that requires both technical proficiency and leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Diagnosis: Accurately diagnose vehicle issues, identify problems with mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, and determine the necessary repair solutions.
Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles, including engine work, brake systems, suspension, exhaust systems, transmissions, and electrical systems.
Advanced Problem Solving: Take on complex and challenging repairs that require expert-level knowledge and experience. Provide solutions to persistent issues that other technicians may not be able to resolve.
Quality Control: Ensure all repairs meet the shop’s high-quality standards, conducting thorough inspections of completed work to ensure safety and reliability.
Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices. Share knowledge to help improve team skills and overall service efficiency.
Customer Communication: Communicate repair findings and recommendations to service advisors and customers, explaining technical issues in easy-to-understand terms.
Tools and Equipment Maintenance: Keep your tools and equipment in good working order and ensure the shop’s tools are maintained, organized, and functioning properly.
Work Order Completion: Accurately complete repair orders, maintain detailed records of work performed, and update customer records with all relevant vehicle information.
Time Management: Manage your workload efficiently, completing repairs in a timely manner while maintaining the quality of work.
Collaboration: Work alongside service advisors and other technicians to ensure smooth workflow, proper communication, and excellent customer service.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as an auto repair technician with advanced knowledge and skills in diagnostics and repair.
ASE Master Technician certification (or equivalent) is required. Additional certifications in specific systems (e.g., brakes, engine repair, etc.) are preferred.
Strong knowledge of automotive repair procedures, tools, and equipment.
Expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex vehicle issues.
Ability to maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail.
Strong customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to customers in a clear and concise manner.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in an independent auto repair shop or dealership setting.
Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
Advanced knowledge of computerized diagnostic tools and equipment.
Ability to work on a variety of vehicle makes and models.
