Required Qualifications and Skills:

Must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.

Proven experience as an automotive/diesel technician.

Strong mechanical aptitude and mechanical ability.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working knowledge of the techniques and procedures to diagnose mechanical/operating problems.

Working knowledge of preventive maintenance inspection techniques.

Working knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines and mechanical components for repairing and maintaining automobiles and trucks.

Working knowledge of safe working practices.

Operate computerized diagnostic equipment.

Understand and follow oral/written directions and plans.

Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Safely lift objects weighing 50 pounds.

Fabricate using welding equipment.

Work cooperatively with others and provide positive customer service.

Learn to input, access, and analyze data using a computer and adapt to technical changes.

Typical Tasks:

Common assignments include: 1) conducting drivability tests to diagnose defects in passenger vehicles, light trucks, vans, etc.; 2) diagnose and determine the appropriate repair for fuel injection systems, computerized feedback emission control systems, heating, air conditioning, brake, steering and suspension systems; 3) advise and consult with service writer staff; 4) maintains records of work performed and materials used; 5) perform other duties as assigned.
