Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.This will be used to fill 1 student worker position in the Baxter Mechanic Shop. This position exists to perform maintenance, inspections, prepping units for auction, and repairs on MN/DOT equipment. Assist Heavy Equipment Mechanics when needed. Positions will start mid-May, working with school schedules, and run approximately 3-months.Minimum QualificationsTo qualify for Student Worker Paraprofessional applicants must meet all the following:· Applicants must be enrolled in a college, university, trade, or technical school in the next three (3) months in a Diesel Mechanic degree program.

Students must be enrolled in six (6) semester or nine (9) quarter credits; or for a non-credit granting institution, two (2) or more classes per semester/quarter.

· Applicants will be asked to complete an Education Verification form prior to appointment.· Must be 18 years old or older.Successful applicant resumes must also demonstrate all the following:· Applicants must include an anticipated graduation/completion date on their resume. This information is needed to determine eligibility.· Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the public in person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.· Valid Class D Driver’s License.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands of this job will vary, but typically requires occasional lifting objects such as 75-pound bags of sample materials; and frequent lifting and/or carrying objects such as heavy tools and file boxes. This job also may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain, may require accessing areas which require additional personal protective equipment [i.e., fall protection, life jacket, respirator, etc.], may involve inspecting work in awkward and/or difficult to access locations, or may involve sitting most of the time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.Additional RequirementsREFERENCE/BACKGROUND CHECKS:Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history checkIt is our policy that all candidates submit to a background investigation prior to employment.
