This position exists to maintain the structural maintenance of building facilities and equipment so that structural integrity, energy, efficiency, security and physical appearance are maintained.

Also, make minor repairs to facilities to insure the safety of occupants and extend the usefulness of the structures.

Early morning snow removal activities using snow removal equipment.

Occasionally fill in for sick/vacation/training days to perform minor custodial duties as directed so that a clean, comfortable and sanitary environment is provided to building occupants.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsTo qualify for the General Repair Worker, applicants must meet all the following:

Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to assist licensed trades workers and to repair machinery, tools, and facilities in a timely and safe manner.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to perform the duties safely and efficiently.

Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools.

Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and bending.

Preferred QualificationsLicensure/Certifications:

Ability to obtain Registered Unclassified Plumbing License.

Ability to obtain Registered Unclassified Electrical License. Able to operate Multimeter on own to test for Electrical current, both AC & DC and be able to determine power is there and deenergize equipment etc.

Obtain Special Engineer’s Boiler license within 6 months of employment.

Physical RequirementsA pre-placement physical examination is required for this position.
