Job Summary:

Insight Residential Therapy is seeking a full time (Monday – Friday schedule) Speech Language Pathologist to help provide care to patients in a subacute and long-term care setting. This professional treats adult patients with neurological impairments, referred from our Insight Healing Center, through evaluating patient capabilities, designing a plan of treatment, and providing clinical recommendations. Our ideal professional should be a self-starter with great communication skills and can work closely with an interdisciplinary team (including nursing, physicians, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, etc.) in order to help provide the most effective care to our patients.

Duties:

Communicates with family members or significant others, physicians and other interdisciplinary team members relating to patient needs and treatment

Performs initial and ongoing assessments of communicative dysfunctions; provides recommendations and provides patient treatment.

Performs administrative tasks such as keeping patient records, documentation via an electronic medical records system in a timely manner, writing reports and making telephone calls/consultations as needed.

Assists with related departmental projects as directed, including community reintegration outings.

Qualifications:

Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.

Active state of Michigan license with Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA), or Clinical Fellowship Year

Graduate of an accredited master’s degree program in Speech Language Pathology.

Expertise in adult neurological speech and language disorders, evaluation and treatment, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia, laryngectomy, stuttering and other related voice disorders

Willingness to work with ventilator dependent patients.

Ability to be flexible and adaptable; exhibiting resourcefulness daily.

Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement.

Ability to relate to and work effectively with a wonderfully diverse population.

Demonstrated excellent skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.

Able to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment while maintaining positive energy.

Able to work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none
