Lead the joining activities for assigned New Model Launches

Assess joining feasibility through Global Product Development System (GPDS) milestones

Assist Launch Team Manufacturing Engineers with resolution to Global Manufacturing Requirement (GMR) open issues.

Ensure up-front enablers are provided on launch for plant control plan execution

Approve joining gun designs

Assist plants with developing robust joining quality control plans

Launch joining tooling and new technologies with 100% effectiveness

Document joining-related lessons learned

Work with joining equipment suppliers for quality and cost improvements

Develop and update joining-related Global Manufacturing Requirements (GMR)

Provide technical expertise for plant and supplier quality issues

Author and update Vehicle Operations Structures Standards for joining processes

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline

Strong leadership experience

Knowledge of welding and joining industry standards

Heavy domestic travel around the United States

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with automotive body construction methods, with joining experience preferred

Experience with automotive body construction launches

Familiarity with existing automotive body joining technologies – welding, adhesive bonding, and mechanical fastening

Experience with CAD

Exemplary written and oral communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills
