The SEMILLA birth cohort study, in the Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, is looking for a full-time Research Analyst to help manage epidemiological research data. The SEMILLA study (Study of Environmental Exposure of Mothers and Infants Impacted by Large-Scale Agriculture) follows pregnant women (workers and non-workers) and their infants in a flower-growing region of Ecuador to assess how toxic chemical exposure, combined with necessary social and structural factors, impacts child development. You will gain valuable experience managing multiple and dual language (Spanish/English) datasets and analyzing longitudinal data, while working with Principal Investigator, Alexis Handal, and study biostatistician and co-Investigator, Dr. Niko Kaciroti.You will report to Dr. Alexis Handal, Associate Professor, Department of Epidemiology.Responsibilities

Manage and organize study databases and related materials (i.e., codebooks)

Prepare multiple and dual language data for analysis, descriptive and inferential statistical analysis and the interpretation of results

Prepare and maintain technical documentation of data and analysis files to support the publication of manuscripts and proposals

Write statistical analysis code (in SAS, Stata, and/or R) for data preparation and analysis. Will develop coding organized and dated to replicate analysis, if needed or requested by funders

Apply appropriate statistical methods based on study design and data collected, including the use of statistical theory to summarize results in writing with the quality necessary for manuscript preparation. Collaborate with researchers in the writing of the statistical section of manuscripts

Follow study protocols and implementation of quality assurance/quality control measures by developing tests to evaluate the validity of data and analyses, and to apply corrective action methods to address the research requirement

Prepare and maintain technical documentation of data and analysis files to support the publication of manuscripts and proposals

Attend required regular meetings and assist researchers with any issues related to data management and statistical analysis

Other research duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology or Survey research

2-4 years of statistical data management/analysis experience

Spanish language fluency is required

Demonstrated experience developing codebooks and databases for data entry, cleaning, and data management

Demonstrated experience using quantitative data analysis software and writing code

Demonstrated experience with statistical data analysis and analysis of longitudinal data

The ability to work with a diverse research team with different stakeholders

Work LocationsThis position has a flexible work arrangement that is open to both fully remote or a hybrid schedule, based in Ann Arbor.
