Response of a single degree of freedom system to dynamic excitation: free vibration, harmonic loads, pulses and earthquakes. Response spectra. Response of multi-degree-of-freedom systems. Seismic behavior of buildings and the basis for seismic building codes.ResponsibilitiesCivil and Environmental Engineering seeks one applicant to teach CEE 511, in Fall term 2024 (August 26, - Dec 31, 2024). The class is scheduled to meet in-person Mon, Wed, 3:00-4:30pm, Rm 3427 EECS.The position will be 0.30 FTE (30% effort) and requires the lecturer be responsible for teaching students the subject titled Dynamics of Structures .Required QualificationsA master's degree, or equivalent education and experience, in Civil Engineering is required. PhD in Civil Engineering preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience and knowledge of the university policies and procedures.Union AffiliationThis position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.Background ScreeningThe University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks.
