Prepares work surfaces and materials for use by the dentist. Keeps records of appointments, examinations, treatments, and supplies. Maintain cubicle stock of dental supplies. Enter patient data into the eHr system as required. Assist with infection control monitoring of faculty, students, and staff along with quality assurance processes in clinic. Follow current infection control standards pertaining to OSHA and HIPPA guidelines.Chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry. Performs dental radiography work.Perform routine preventive maintenance on hand-pieces, instruments, dental units, chairs and lights. Report major equipment repair and maintenance needs. Order stock, specialty supplies and organize operatory supplies. Coordinate laboratory cases for faculty. Expose and process dental radiographs. May complete tasks to assist the dentist such as clipping a wire. May assist in the development and revision of training procedures and assist in the training of dental students. Taking impression for studies and imposing models. Taking digital scans for final restorations or intra oral appliances. Assists with sedation and complex dental procedures. Mentors lower-level Dental Assistants as an assistant lead. Assists Clinic Coordinator as needed. Assists and trains dental students on procedures.Required QualificationsCertificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program. RDA Licensure Current BLS for Healthcare Providers Knowledge of HIPPA, OSHA standards, and aseptic techniques Extensive knowledge of dental clinic practices and procedures Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting. Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills. Ability to perform a wide range of physical activity to include lifting, pulling, bending, and manual dexterity movements.Excellent attendance and the ability to multi-task. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.Desired QualificationsAssociate's degree in Dental Assisting. Experience working within a dental health care setting. Familiarity with Axium (MiDent) dental record systems. Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
