The Quarters, a vintage arcade/restaurant/bar in Hadley, is now accepting applications for the Kitchen Manager position.

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of daily operations in the kitchen of The Quarters in Hadley, MA. This is a full-time management position with significant hands-on, back of house responsibility, and requires a “can-do” personality that is comfortable working collaboratively within a small business. The position schedule includes substantial evening and weekend hours and occasional holidays. Must be able to work in high stress situations, be comfortable working in an establishment that serves alcohol and has entertainment. The position works alongside the Bar Manager and reports to the General Manager.

Responsibilities include:

Staff Management and Limited Customer Service: Supervising and developing kitchen staff; working with the General Manager and other members of the management team to develop or modify written policies and procedures, as needed; ensuring that policies and procedures are consistently followed; managing staff to deliver consistently excellent food, customer service and to provide patrons a consistently enjoyable experience.

Inventory and Menu Design: Our location has limited space and as such the Kitchen Manager will be expected to remain diligent about inventory and ordering. Our menu will offer an array of specials which will allow the Kitchen Manager creativity over menu design.

Special Events: Overseeing management for back of house during special event programming including developing menu and pricing structures for corporate events, birthday parties, and other events.

Equipment and Facilities: Overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of facilities and equipment, including HVAC units, walk in cooler and cooking, prep and storage areas; managing projects related to the maintenance, repair and improvement of the kitchen; in collaboration with the bar manager, overseeing maintenance and upkeep of the larger facility and ensuring we’re providing a first class experience for our clientele from top to bottom.

Emergency Planning & Management: Maintaining, training and implementing Emergency Action Plans for the premise to properly handle medical, structural and environmental emergencies. Training staff on how to handle emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

Financial: Managing expenses to an approved budget.

Attitude: Must be engaged and enthusiastic about working in a dynamic workplace; our kitchen services a wide range of people, from families on the bike path to the weekend arcade crowd and you must be comfortable working with all types of people. Must have experience and comfort managing staff and working alongside the Bar Manager.

Other. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Weekly Schedule

An average work week would be estimated at 45 hours. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for working to cover unexpected absences and sick days in coordination with the General Manager. It would be expected that the Kitchen Manager would be available to handle or address issues as they arise in an ever changing business environment.
