Overview:

Beantown Home Improvements is seeking a reliable and motivated Shop Assistant to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and operate dump trailers for transportation of materials to the recycling center, ensuring timely and efficient disposal. The ideal candidate will have experience with pulling trailers via a company truck, a strong work ethic, and the ability to perform manual labor.

Key Responsibilities:

Drop off empty dump trailers or roll off cans to jobs ahead of roofing jobs

Pick up trailers and bring back to shop to remove trash (plastic, wood and metal) for recycling

Bring dump trailers to Carney Recycling in Raynham to dispose of waste shingles

All weights are below DOT requirements for a CDL, so CDL is not needed. You will need a DOT Health Card, which we will get for you if needed

Ensure all loads are securely fastened and comply with safety regulations

Perform routine inspections and maintenance of trailers and related equipment

Assist with loading and unloading materials onto/from trailers from shop

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop area and trailers

Follow all safety protocols and company policies during operations

Communicate effectively with shop management and team members regarding schedules, routes, and any issues encountered.

Keep accurate records of dump runs, and disposal fees.

Manage shop duties including running small forklift – if you do not have a Hoisting License we will pay for you to get one.

Other shop duties: equipment maintenance, inventory management including ordering of stock and maintaining a clean shop. Could also assist in making curbs for skylights or assisting on roofing jobs as required as a carpenter.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is a must.

Hoisting License preferred, but not required. We will send you to get one if needed

Experience in pulling trailers (towable 25’ dump trailers) and related equipment.

Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects more than 50 pounds

Strong attention to detail and safety-conscious mindset.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Ability to work independently and follow directions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a similar role or in a shop/warehouse environment.

Basic mechanical skills for minor trailer maintenance and repairs.

Working Conditions:

Hours are typically from 7-4 M-F, but may require earlier or later hours or even some weekends

This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
