Duties: Provides vocational/technical instruction to an adult incarcerated male population in the field of Culinary Arts. Develops, implements, and periodically reviews a Culinary Arts curriculum. Provides direct supervision for minimum security incarcerated individuals assigned to the staff cafeteria located in Milford Headquarters. Responsible for maintaining a secure and safe environment for incarcerated individuals and staff. Reports any and all issues related to incarcerated individuals violating proper code of conduct. Responsible for following all departmental policies and procedures. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of incarcerated individual's competency achievement and attendance. Participates in recruitment and placement of perspective students and the placement of graduate students. Responsible for the management of cafeteria operational budget, ordering, and receiving/inventory of product. Maintains a current and up-to-date inventory of tools and equipment and supervises tool control. Participates in staff meetings with principal and other teaching staff. Maintains safe, secure and clean working areas. Participates in at least forty (40) hours of training each fiscal year. Performs related duties as required by the Departmental Food Service Director or Director of Administrative Services. Serves breakfast and luncheon meals to staff from 6:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.Some weekend work is required. Preferred Qualifications: Six (6) years of recent trade experience or Dept. of Ed. Occ. Ed. Certification. Certified or certifiable by the MA Dept. of Ed. in the Culinary Arts area. Possess the ability to develop curriculum and lesson plans required to teach Culinary Arts. Comments: This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in teaching, educational administration, educational counseling or educational guidance, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in education or special education may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience. II. A Graduate degree with a major in education, special education, educational administration or educational counseling may be substituted for a maximum of three years of the required experience. Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License or the equivalent from another state may be required.
