The Buildings and Grounds Associate is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property, in addition to performing grounds upkeep and custodial work around the school campus.Essential Functions and Physical Demands:Maintains a clean and safe environment for our students, faculty/staff and communityOperates related motorized and non-motorized equipmentProvides on-call weekend maintenance support as assignedMaintains a positive and professional attitudeAbility to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, semi overhead reaching, walking, climbing stairs, crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, sitting, standing for an extended period of time, shoveling, carrying/lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.Employment Standards:Must be able to work professionally in and around the public; perform physical and manual labor; be self sufficient; understands and carries out oral and written instructions; maintains cooperative working relationships with employees. Meet all essential expectations for Derby Academy staff in accordance with the Employee Handbook and code of conduct.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintenance and RepairsReports and responds to emergency calls for maintenance assistanceResponds to service requests in a timely manner using the school’s maintenance ticketing systemAssists in preventative maintenance for building mechanical equipmentPerforms minor building HVAC, plumbing, electrical and cosmetic repairsUses hand and power tools as needed to perform dutiesGroundskeepingMaintains the school’s curb appeal by mowing lawns, trimming hedges and other duties as assignedEnsures that walkways and parking lots are clear of debris, leaves, snow, and iceUses commercial landscaping and snow removal equipment to perform dutiesSafety and SecurityEnsures the proper function of doors and windowsReports any safety and security concerns to direct supervisor or any on duty administratorEnsures all exterior lighting is illuminatedCollaborates with other staff to implement safety protocols and emergency proceduresAct as a liaison with School rentals as assignedAssist with a variety of compliance codes, rules and or laws, related to the daily operations of the school campusCustodialPerforms routine custodial tasks as assignedAssists with common area cleaning and responds to custodial requestsGeneral dining hall cleaning after lunch periods including removal of trash, recyclables, and compostCleaning and disinfecting dining hall tables and high touch areasSweeping and mopping the dining hall and kitchen area floorsAssist with exterior trash removalResponds to sanitary related cleanupsEquipment and SuppliesReports any low levels of supplies/inventory related to janitorial, maintenance and groundskeepingAssists in keeping equipment in good working orderEnsure that storage areas are neat and orderlyCollaborationWorks closely with other school staff, administrators and faculty to address maintenance and facility-related issues.Implements the set up and take down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of community eventsCommunicates effectively with school contractors and service providers as assignedRequirementsTwo years of custodial and/or building and maintenance experienceSnow removal and landscaping experienceValid Driver's LicensePass a criminal background checkHoursFull time 40 hours. 1st Shift 6am-2pm, 2nd Shift 1pm-9pmHours are subject to change due to inclement weather conditions, scheduled events or other emergencies that take precedence.Please apply online with Trustees of Derby Academy at: https://derby-academy-trustees.checkwritersrecruit.com/job/739859/buildings-and-grounds-associate-facilities-maintenance-dept?s=cl
