We are a pioneering family with a daughter who has Profound Autism. She is 32 years old and is served through Self Direction with funds from the Department of Developmental Services and Mass Health. We are seeking to build a team of caring, strong people who will provide support and assistance for her at home and in the community. Your role will be a critical part of a behavior-informed program to help her achieve her goals of wellness, engagement and stability.
Role Overview
As a Direct Care Specialist, you will be a vital member of our team, providing support to a person with limited communication skills and some behavioral challenges but loves to have fun and enjoys people. Your responsibilities include:
Assisting with all areas of personal care.
Community Outings - Help to create and implement skill-building activities in the
community.
Ensuring Safety and Cleanliness - Following a Behavior Plan and helping to maintain a
clean environment.
Communicating with Family and Dr.’s - helping us all stay well informed.
Key Responsibilities
Getting her dressed and ready for a day at home and in the community
Planning engaging activities for during the day
Taking her to evening activities, when available
Assisting with chores of cleaning and laundry
Assisting her with end of day routine of shower, pajamas and relaxing
Overnight shifts available - sleeping unless she wakes up
Qualifications
Basic Understanding of Profound Autism
Ability to Follow Behavior Plan
High School Diploma, College preferred
Ability to work respectfully and supportively in a home environment
