We are seeking a creative and experienced Landscape Architect with a deep understanding of the design challenges and regulatory environments in Boston and its surrounding communities. This is a remote, project-based role ideal for a seasoned professional looking for flexible and engaging work.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, demonstrating a strong portfolio of built work and a comprehensive knowledge of the unique requirements for landscape projects in the Greater Boston area.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop innovative and functional landscape designs for a variety of project types, including residential, commercial, and public spaces.
Navigate the specific permitting and approval processes of municipalities in and around Boston (e.g., Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Conservation Commissions, Zoning Boards of Appeal).
Prepare detailed site plans, planting plans, construction documents, and presentation graphics.
Demonstrate familiarity with local climate, native plant palettes, and sustainable design practices suitable for New England.
Collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, architects, and contractors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture.
Professional licensure (RLA) in Massachusetts is strongly preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in landscape architecture.
A proven track record of successful projects in Boston, Cambridge, Brookline, Newton, Somerville, or other nearby towns and cities.
Thorough understanding of local zoning codes, wetland regulations, and conservation commission requirements.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to meet project deadlines.
