Pay Range: $85 - $88 Autism Behavior Consultant Duties and responsibilities The consultant to assist students, their families, and teachers, who have autism and are functioning in the intellectually deficient range . T hey need to prove competency in many areas that cover the design and implementation of both individualized ABA interventions, and comprehensive ABA treatment programs. The consultant will be charged with providing professional advice to schools and teachers on how to improve the students' adaptive functioning, behavior, and school progression. Typical duties and responsibilities include: · Visiting educational settings and community settings and liaising with and modeling best practices for other professionals in these settings · Observing the behavior of students in various settings · Identifies student abilities and needs with the IEP team for the purpose of developing long- and short-term goals and objectives for behavior, curriculum, and instruction · Devising interventions and plans for students, that address adaptive functioning and behavior · Advising, guiding, and instructing other professionals (e.g., teachers or instructional assistants) on intervention strategies · Develops and implements opportunities and in-services for the purpose of providing needed and/or required training for educational staff, parents, and administrators. · Analyzing and reviewing the progress of students · Prepares and maintains a variety of documents, records, reports, and written materials for the purpose of communicating information to parents and staff, providing written support, developing recommendations and/or conveying information and complying with various state, federal and administrative requirements. · Offering advice as to how educational settings can further progress their support to all students Qualifications/Certifications To be considered the consultants will need a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, such as psychology or special education. Ideally, the consultant will also have achieved a master's degree in special education or developmental and/or educational psychology and hold current certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (BCBA). This education should be combined with at least 5 years of experience in an educational or therapeutic setting where students with autism require direct behavior and adaptive support and interventions. Skills and relevant work experience As well as an in-depth understanding of autism and applied behavior analysis the consultant will need: · Verbal and written communication skills as they will need to communicate with autistic children, their parents and a range of other professionals. They must also maintain records and files to the highest standard and make clear and concise notes · Leadership skills, as the consultant will oversee directing and instructing other professionals and they must be able to do this confidently · Problem solving skills are essential to provide the most effective interventions for both the individual child and the school as a whole · Self-motivation, the autism consultant will spend a lot of time working alone and directing their own work ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 lbs. Minimum Requirements:

Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)

Master’s degree in applied behavior analysis, teaching, psychology or related field

Preferred experience providing behavior analytic programs and services in schools

One (1) year minimum pediatric experience preferred

Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

Participation and completion of Maxim's Competency program when applicable

Current CPR if applicable

TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
