Description We are seeking a Senior Accountant for one of our non-profit clients in Bethesda, Maryland. As part of our team, the chosen candidate will play a crucial role in our daily financial operations, including tasks such as performing and reviewing transactions (AP and AR), assisting with monthly closing, preparing required documents for annual audits, and managing school credit cards. This role is pivotal in our industry, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes.Responsibilities: Conduct daily transactions related to cash reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank account activity, and recording of revenue and expenses. Assist in preparing and recording journal entries and monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts as part of the monthly closing process. Prepare necessary documents and information for the annual audit. Prepare, analyze, and distribute budget vs actual reports to division directors. Manage school credit cards, including updating user and approver information, assisting users with monthly expense report, and reviewing and correcting coding errors. Work closely with the admissions team to ensure all enrollment contracts are properly issued, signed, and billed. Oversee family accounts in the tuition management system and assist families with their account matters. Monitor receivables and report issues to CFO on a timely basis. Manage all accounts payable matters, including setting up new vendors, inputting invoices, ensuring proper g/l codes and approvals are obtained, posting and reconciling ACH payments, and filing 1099’s at year-end. Manage the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely pay to employees, accurate retirement contribution, and timely year-end payroll filing. Implement new accounting and payroll policies and procedures to meet changing requirements. Account for all revenue accounts inclusive of tuition, gifts, and other miscellaneous revenue streams.The ideal candidate for this Senior Accountant role will have their BS in Accounting, 2+ years of day-to-day accounting or auditing, QuickBooks and the ability to be a team player to collaborate with the rest of the accounting team. This role is 5 days/week in the office and once up and running you can work 1 day/week from home. Great work/life balance and a tenured team to work with.
