Compass Government Solutions LLC is looking for a Medical Psychiatric RN to provide services for the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) Bethesda. In preparation to bid on this contract, we are seeking qualified candidates willing to be included in our proposal as interested and skilled individuals.Location:

Hours: 8 ½ hour Rotating shifts based on needs  

Weekends and holidays requiredJob requirementsPerforms comprehensive behavioral health nursing assessment and history to plan, provide, and direct nursing care across the continuum of care.Utilizes appropriate interview skills and describes, in writing, the patient's appearance, emotional status, interaction with staff and/or family, and knowledge level of disease process.Utilizes the nursing process to identify patient problems and generate nursing diagnoses.Designs a plan of care and writes/implements nursing orders to achieve established goals.Evaluates nursing interventions, based upon the patient’s response to care.Documents patient’s status on a continual basis and revises plan of care accordingly.Instructs patient and family members regarding the disease process, treatment modalities, diagnostic procedures, and use of equipment related to disease/care, expected and possible adverse reactions to medications, discharge planning, health maintenance, and illness prevention.Communicates progress and/or changes to the patient, family, and members of the health care team.Identifies pending crisis situations and initiates emergency measures, as appropriate. Knowledge of emergent psychiatric disorders and crisis intervention.Functions as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team, facilitating and monitoring the patient's plan for care to ensure the best possible outcomes.Provides interdisciplinary referrals. Utilizes, and instructs others, in the use of single and specialized equipment, as appropriate to clinical area.Interviews and systematically collects data pertaining to patient's health status.Gathers bio-psychosocial information about the patient and their family, pertinent to their general health status and the development of drug abuse/alcohol dependence.Identifies and monitors patients for the signs and symptoms associated with withdrawal and relapse.Administers medications, as prescribed with the goal of ensuring the patient detoxifies safely. Knowledge of psychotropic medications and special drugs, including normal dosage, administration, action, and adverse reactions.Obtains health history, analyzes the data, and makes interventions to assist the patient in prioritizing needs and setting goals for problem resolution.Instructs and counsels patients, utilizing principles of adult learning. Teaches and reinforces health promotion and healthy patterns of living.Assists patients to integrate healthy coping behaviors into life-style choices.Skill in behavioral health assessment, triage, evaluation, treatment, and disposition of complex psychiatric cases, with special attention to the level of care appropriate to treat the particular clinical diagnosis and dilemma.Knowledge of emergent psychiatric disorders and crisis intervention.Knowledge of a wide range of professional psychiatric nursing and medical theories, procedures and techniques, used in the evaluation, treatment and management of behavioral health patients.Skill and ability to interpret patient's verbal and non-verbal actions/responses.Skill in utilizing fall precautions, behavioral restraints and other protective measures. Skill in utilizing protective measures when dealing with combative patients. Ability to restrain patients in compliance with hospital regulation.Knowledge of psychotropic medications and special drugs, including normal dosage administration, action, and adverse reactions.Skill and knowledge required to take medical histories, make clinical assessments and choose, initiate, and modify a wide range of therapies, to manage psychiatric cases and provide direct care.Working knowledge and demonstrate hands-on experience of computerized patient care systems MHS (Genesis (Cerner). The contractor must maintain access to DHMRSi program and complete bi-weekly DHMRSi workload documentation throughout the life cycle of this requirement.Ensure compliance with standard of care and practice IAW all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment MTF and IAW JC guidelines. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.Complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.When assigned, will serve and participate in functions, collateral duties and other meetings during scheduled hours or upon COR approval. As required, participate in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.Provide relevant and timely information and assists with decision-making and process improvement.When required, participate in the orientation, training, and evaluation of duty performance of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.As required, participate in customer service and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
